1. How is Couples on
the Brink different from
traditional couples or
marriage counseling?
Traditional couples
counseling by
experienced clinicians
can be quite effective.
However it also has many
limitations-- like hour
long sessions once a
week. In our experience,
this is not enough to
help couples in serious
relationship distress.
Couples on the Brink is
different because
treatment is tailored to
your specific
relationship needs. One
way we do this is to
match you with a
therapist with extensive
experience with your
particular issues. For
example, we have
therapists that
specialize in areas like
communication, anger
management, addiction,
sexual issues and many
others. In addition, in
our weekend intensive
programs, we
are not constrained by
the clock and have ample
time to work on your
issues.
2. How specifically
is the weekend format
helpful?
We are able to go much
deeper into the issues
in the weekend format.
Rather than ending
sessions during pivotal
discussions, we can take
the necessary time
needed to make a
difference. This format
also allows us to break
through areas and move
toward resolving
long-standing issues and
conflicts. The
weekend format is a
combination of intensive
therapy sessions,
psychoeducation and
experiential exercises.
The combination has
proven to be very
powerful.
3. Do you do
follow-up sessions after
the weekend is over?
Yes, you can receive up
to three free follow-up
sessions after your
weekend intensive. You
can use these sessions
however you like and
they never expire.
Many couples utilize the
follow-up sessions to
reinforce the gains they
made over the weekend.
4. Can we book out
own hotel?
Yes you can book your
own lodging
accommodations or you
can stay at one of our
partner hotels or
resorts.
5. We liked the idea
of a weekend intensive
but would prefer to do
it during the week.
Is this possible?
Yes, we can structure
and intensive program
for you during the week
to accommodate your
schedule. We
simply need
approximately 2 weeks
booking time.
6. Do you have
experience with gay
couples?
Yes. Our experienced
staff of relationship
therapists have been
practicing in South
Florida for many years.
The diversity of our
culture has afforded us
experience with a wide
range of people and
cultures including the
gay community. |
